Adsense Alternatives
Many of you will be using Adsense to monetize your boards. If so, you might be interested in other ad programs that will work alongside Adsense and remain within their program terms. If you're not using Adsense, there are all manner of alternatives, a few of which we are making use of on our boards...
Chitika
If you are getting search traffic from America and/or Canada (most people are of course), Chitika has become a very well operated system for ad revenue. It produces eCPMs as good as, if not better th an Adsense, and you can use them alongside eachother. It's important to realise than Chitika adboxes will not be seen by your normal visitors. The will only show to guest traffic that arrives at your site via a search engine. The keywords are detected and appropriate ads are shown. Infolinks
In-line text ads are becoming a common part of the Internet. Many sites, big or small, even major news organizations, are making use of them to increase revenue... the reason being they really do work. Even though some people claim they are obtrusive, the reality is that they make no difference whatsoever to your site's visitor retention. If you're concerned about this, but want to use them, just set up a seperate skin for your guests and members.
Our main website has been using them for a couple of years now. We used a couple of providers/networks... but by far, the best has been Infolinks. The eCPM has been way out in front of any other such network. The ads don't slow down your pages and they are ful ly customizable for your website. They pay on time. In short, we're delighted.
